Shockwave SG 2018, our annual shockwave event co-organised with Storz Medical for musculoskeletal medical and healthcare professionals, is around the corner again.

The treatment procedure for the classic ESWT indications has changed over the years. In the past, only the tendon insertion area was treated. Today the musculature is also increasingly included. Modern ESWT systems offer the unique possibility of treating both tendons and muscles. Tendon insertions are increasingly treated with focused shock waves alone. Afterwards the associated muscles are relaxed with radial shock waves and trigger points (myogeloses) are eliminated. In addition, complementary techniques or treatments such as vibration therapy or magneto-therapy are increasingly being used in combination with shockwave therapy.

Shockwave SG 2018 features Professor Karsten Knobloch, a leading shockwave expert in sports medicine, pain management and orthopaedics. An accomplished speaker, Prof Karsten is the current President of DIGEST, the German Society for Shockwave Treatment and also the Vice Chairman of the Plastic, Hand and Reconstructive Surgery, Hannover Medical School.

Storz Medical’s award-winning office line; the world’s first modular ESWT system, the Duolith SD-1 Ultra as well as the latest compact Radial ESWT series, the Masterpuls Ultra will displayed at Shockwave SG 2018.

Prof Karsten will also be conducting a hands-on workshop showcasing the latest shockwave therapy techniques.
